Petitions

Collect signatures and turn them into donors

With a petition, you collect signatures instead of money. Signers provide their contact information, and you can track the number of signatures as it grows toward your goal. The signatures are added to the same donor database as your donations, so you can follow up with them later.

A petition is a checkout process without payment. It simply displays a form, and the goal is measured in the number of signatures rather than in kronor.

How it works

Create the petition

Under Checkouts → Create New, select the type " Petition." The payment methods are hidden, so you'll go directly to naming the petition, choosing your branding, and setting up the form. Set the goal as a number of signatures.

Decide what you want to ask for

The email address is always required. You can enable the name, phone number, address, social security number, consent checkboxes, and terms and conditions checkbox individually under "Branding," using the same settings as for your regular checkouts. Just ask for the information you need to use.

Show how far you've come

Check the box Display fundraising goals at checkout Under Branding → Appearance → Fundraising Goal, the gauge shows the number of signatures relative to the goal. The text next to the gauge reads, by default, 1,000 signatures. Write your own text in Target text to the right of the meter, where {goal} is replaced with your goal — for example Help us reach {goal}.

Publish the fundraiser where it will make a difference

There are two ways to publish your petition. You can either create a campaign page in Repejo, or embed the form on your own website using the same web component that your other checkouts use.

The campaign page has its own public URL and is built using blocks that you can reorder using the up and down arrows. Each block has its own text and background colors, and a preview updates as you edit. You can choose from the following blocks:

  • Title — a heading, such as the name of the petition.
  • Text — a paragraph of continuous text.
  • Fundraising Goal — shows how many people have signed the petition.
  • Read more — text that the visitor can expand by clicking a plus button.
  • FAQ — a list of frequently asked questions and answers that visitors can expand.
  • Image — an image, with a link if you'd like.
  • Checkout — the form where the visitor signs.
  • Footer — the footer with contact information and social media links, always at the very end.

Follow the signatures

The "Signatures" tab displays one row per person, including their name, email address, cell phone number, and time. The total is shown at the top, and if you've set a goal, it appears next to it. Export all signatures to Excel if you want to continue working with them in your own systems.

Each person can only sign up once. If the same email address is submitted again, Repejo will not save a duplicate entry.

Let the signature lead to a donation

Anyone who has just signed the petition has shown that the issue matters to them, so it makes sense to ask for a donation. Check the box for “Add the option to make a donation” under “Branding,” and a donation request with amount buttons will appear directly on the thank-you screen. Donations are paid using the payment methods you’ve set up for the petition.

The signatures will be added to your donor database

Each signature is linked to a person in Repejo. If that person has donated to you before, Repejo recognizes the email address or phone number and reuses the existing record instead of adding a duplicate. A petition thus becomes a way to acquire new contacts, not a separate list.

Let us know when someone signs

Repejo can send an email and a text message when someone signs the petition. Both are optional. You can set up the templates under "Communication" on the petition page, or set them as the default for new petitions within your organization.

Summary

With petition drives, you can influence public opinion and build a network of contacts within the same system as your donations. You can create a campaign page or embed the form on your website, track the number of signatures as you work toward your goal, and ask for a donation right after someone signs. The signatures are added to your list of donors, so the work continues even after the campaign ends.

Frequently Asked Questions About Petitions

Does it cost anything for the person signing it?

No. A petition does not accept any payments and does not display any amounts. Signers simply provide their contact information.

Can we ask for a donation after you sign?

Yes. Check the "Add option to make a donation" box under "Branding," and a donation prompt with amount buttons will appear on the thank-you screen. Donations are paid using the payment methods you have set up for the petition.

Where will we publish the petition?

Either as a campaign page that you build using blocks in Repejo, or embedded on your own website using the same web component that your other checkouts use.

Can the same person sign multiple times?

No. If the same email address is entered again, Repejo won't save a duplicate.

What information can we collect?

The email address is always required. You can enable the name, phone number, address, social security number, consent checkboxes, and terms and conditions checkbox individually under "Branding."

Can we export the signatures?

Yes. Under the "Signatures" tab, you can download all the signatures for the petition as an Excel file.
